Carolina Sportsplex

We wanted to inform you of the status of the Carolina Sportsplex.

The Sportsplex will be closing its doors temporarily on May 31, 2008. Operations will continue through May 19, 2008, which takes us through the Coastal Cup Championships Tournament.

The building will be closed from June 1, 2008 through July 21, 2008 for remodeling. The building owner is looking forward to offering a new and improved recreational experience. The newly remodeled facility will offer a complete line of in-line hockey, soccer, volleyball, and lacrosse programming as well as other sports activities.

Tsunami Board members will be communicating with the building owner and the new management group in the next few months as we plan our program for next season, including tryouts, team practices and skills & conditioning practices. We look forward to scheduling events such as player evaluations and Kick-Off Day as usual.

As we begin looking toward next season, the evaluation of this season is vitally important. You will be receiving Program Surveys from your Team Manager in the next few weeks. Your prompt attention will be greatly appreciated. A board planning meeting is scheduled for mid-July and the results of these surveys are utilized in this planning process. This information helps to improve the program for families and your opinions are highly valued!

We are excited about these new opportunities for our program and will keep you informed on a monthly basis at the very least.

Carolina Tsunami

Every year, all Tsunami Board positions are up for nomination. As we wind down our 2007-2008 season, we are preparing the slate of board positions for next year (2008-2009). If you, or anyone you know, is interested in serving on our board, please send your nomination to either our president, Cindy Smith (Cindysmithpta@aol.com) or carolina_tsunami@yahoo.com.

A couple of things to consider:
1. EVERY position is up for nomination and election. While many of the currently serving members have expressed their willingness to serve again next year, you are welcome to submit a nomination or be nominated for any position.

2. Three positions are currently VACANT for next year: a) Communications, b) Outfitting, and c) Recruitment. We need people willing to take on these positions.

3. For your information, the board positions are - all open for nomination:
President
Secretary
Treasurer
Outfitting
Fund Raising
Travel
Communications
Recruiting

Once again, although many of the currently serving member have expressed a willingness to serve next year, everyone is welcome to submit nominations for any position.

Please submit your nominations to Cindy Smith (Cindysmithpta@aol.com) or carolina_tsunami@yahoo.com. Elections are held at the general meeting in September. If you have any questions, please feel free to email those as well. Thanks
